This resulted in a struggle with both networks as he tried to convince them that they were two completely separate shows. Wanting to work on King of the Hill (1997) for Fox while not completely turning his back on MTV, he relented to allowing a series focusing on Daria (1997) but wanted to put the project in someone else's hands.
